In the Carranza Valley there are a multitude of megalithic monuments such as dolmens or tumuli. In 1904, the engravings of the cave of Ventalaperra, in the district of Molinar, were discovered, as well as other archaeological remains in enclaves of the same environment studied at the beginning of the 20th century by J. M. Barandiarán. Carranza appears already named Carrantia in the Chronicle of Alfonso III as a place repopulated during the reign of Alfonso I (8th century).
