Day 1
CANCÚN – YAXUNAH – CHICHÉN ITZÁ
Transfer and lodging at the hotel. Transfer to the village of Yaxunah, a Mayan community of 700 inhabitants in the municipality of Yaxcabá, Yucatán, just 25 minutes from the famous city of Chichén Itzá. Yaxunah has its own archaeological site which you can visit on foot from the town. In the same way you can visit the seed bank and its organic garden. This seed bank is a space that belongs to the entire community in which seeds are kept to improve them, use them and exchange them for materials within the community.
Among the backyard gardens, you will be able to learn about the experience of comprehensive agriculture where the entire family participates and whose primary objective is the production of vegetables and poultry for self-consumption, as well as generating comprehensive use of natural resources. Subsequently, a typical Mayan meal will be prepared, cooked in the "PIB" oven under the ground and wrapped in banana leaves, (There is the option of preparing a vegetarian meal such as tamales). We can
participate in the preparation of dessert and tortillas or enjoy a walk and return at lunchtime to taste the delicious “PIB”. Yaxunah is home to a community of very skilled artisans who will gladly show you their work and invite you to participate in part of the process.
We will visit the hammock weaving workshop and we will be able to see how the colorful and traditional hammocks are made. In the antler workshop they will show us the process to extract the material and create accessories such as earrings and necklaces.
We will visit the archaeological zone near Yaxunah, you will appreciate the ruins of this small Mayan city that began its development around 400 years BC. Later, we will visit the Lol Ha cenote (or water flower) that is located in the center of town, which is an open cenote with crystal clear and fresh waters with a depth of 30 meters and with easy
access. We will continue our tour to check in at the hotel and we will end the day with a tour of light and sound "The nights of Kukulkan" where you will visit the archaeological zone of Chichén Itzá at night, which will be quite an adventure since the darkness highlights the spectacularity of the stars that fill the entire sky, covering the area and giving us an unforgettable visual spectacle.
Day 2
CHICHÉN ITZÁ – TSUKAN - CANCÚN
In the morning the transportation will go to the lobby to go on a tour of the Archaeological Zone of Chichén Itzá where we will contemplate the sunrise. This wonderful place is known as one of the 7 wonders of the modern world. In Chichén Itzá you will be able to witness the astronomical and mathematical precision of all its constructions and you will
experience the acoustic effects of the Kukulcán pyramid. Additionally, we will be able to visit important sites such as: The Ball Game and The Temple of the Thousand Columns.
Later we will visit Tsukán "Sanctuary of Life" an incredible place to explore and discover in depth the secrets of the Yucatan peninsula. On the way back we will have a panoramic visit of the city of Valladolid. Return to Cancun.
